What is an Essay?
An Essay is basically a piece of writing, usually from an author’s personal point of view. Mostly they are non-fictional but often subjective, while expository and can also include narrative. Essays can be literary criticism, political manifestos, learned arguments, observations of daily life, recollections, and reflections of the author. The definition of an essay is vague, overlapping with those of an article and a short story.
Purpose of Essay?
It is a strange question to ask but you need to know. Essay writing is compulsory in English exam/paper for second (2nd) year students, either you are pre-engineering or commerce student. In subjective part, Question 6 is about essay writing .Essay writing is compulsory in English exam/paper for second (2nd) year students if you want to pass the exam. The paper consist of total 100 marks and pattern is shown below.
1. Objective: The total marks for this part is 20 and Question 1 consist on 20 MCQs.
2. Subjective: The total marks for this part 80 and consist on following:
Section 1:
Question 2 consist of short questions from book 2 (12 marks)
Question 3 consist of short questions from book 2 (12 marks)
Question 4 consist of short questions from Mr. Chips Novel(16 marks)
Section 2:
Question 5 consist of 300-400 words Essay (15 marks)
Question 6 consist of idioms (10 marks)
Question 7 consist of Translation (15 marks)
